Breast implant surgery

Breast implants can be used to make a woman’s breasts larger and fuller. This can be done for reconstructive or cosmetic reasons, such as following a mastectomy for breast cancer.

Breast implants come in two basic types: saline and silicone gel.

Silicone shells filled with sterile salt water are known as saline-filled implants (saline). Some of the implants are pre-filled, while others are filled during the implant procedure.

Implants with silicone gel filling are silicone shells filled with a plastic gel (silicone).

Although many women claim that silicone gel implants feel more natural than saline implants.

Both saline and silicone have smooth or textured shells and come in a variety of sizes. Each has its own set of advantages and disadvantages, so it comes down to personal preference.

Fat transfer breast augmentation: In a fat transfer breast augmentation, your surgeon will use liposuction to take fat from another area of your body and then inject that fat into your breasts. This type of augmentation is usually for people who want a relatively small increase in their breast size. In most cases, your surgeon will take fat tissue from one of the following areas:

– Your belly.
– Your flanks (the sides and lower back of your abdomen).
– Your back.
– Your thighs.

Because breasts can continue to grow until late adolescence or early adulthood, the FDA stipulates that woman get breast augmentation with saline-filled implants at the age of 18 and silicone implants at the age of 22.

You will meet with your surgeon for a medical evaluation prior to your breast implant procedure. You can discuss your desires with the doctor and receive feedback. Before your operation, your surgeon may advise you to stop using certain medications.

Breast augmentation can be done as an outpatient treatment or as an overnight stay in the hospital.

The procedure takes 1 to 2 hours. You will most likely be put under general anesthesia, which will render you “asleep” and pain-free.

Depending on your body, the type of implant, and the amount of enlargement, the surgeon will create a cut under your breasts, under your arms, or around your nipples.

The breast implant will be placed in a pocket above or below your chest muscle by the surgeon. Sutures or surgical tape will be used to close the wounds once the implant has been placed.

How do we prepare for breast augmentation surgery?

-Get a blood test.
– Take certain medications or adjust your current medications.
– Stop smoking.
– Avoid certain foods or beverages.
– Avoid taking aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory drugs, since they can increase bleeding.

After the surgery, your breasts will be covered in gauze. Drainage tubes may be present, which will be removed in a few days. As you heal, you may need to wear a surgical bra.

After your breast augmentation procedure, you’ll need to rest for a few days. For example, you shouldn’t lift anything heavy for at least 6 weeks after obtaining your implants.
